BPI SEARCH for 10 Outstanding Expat Pinoy Children
 
Bank of the Philippines Island is set to honor 10 TEN OUTSTANDING EXPAT PINOY Children, who will receive a cash prize of FIFTY THOUSAND PESOS (P50,000.00) each.
 
1.
What are the objectives of the Search?
 
 
Through the Search, BPI wishes to extend to the children of Expat Pinoys the pride and honor already accorded to our fellow countrymen, especially the parents, who are working overseas for their families.
The Search brings the Bank and the public together in doing their share to nurture this important sector of the society: the Expat Pinoys (OFWs) and their families.
This is also another way for the Bank to stir in the consciousness of Expat Pinoy children the need to give importance to the sacrifices being made by their parents. For the parents, it is a great achievement seeing their children finish school, more so receiving recognition from prestigious agencies of the society, such as BPI.
 
2.
Who are the institutional partners in the search?
 
BPI's partners in this project are BSP, DECS, CHED, OWWA and POEA.
 
3.
Who can join?
 
  The nominee
a.
Must be between 15 to 21 years old;
b.
Must be a son or daughter of an Expat Pinoy with a current contract abroad;
c.
Must have a parent/s or immediate family member who is a client of BPI Unibank;
d.
Must belong to the top 10% of the class, level or batch year, with no failing grade; and
e.
Must be currently enrolled or has recently graduate (not more than 2 years) from a four-year course.
f.
Must not be related to any employee of BPI Unibank and its advertising and promotions agencies up to the second degree of affinity or consanguinity.
 
4.
Aside from the application form, what are the other requirements to join?
 
  The nominee must submit:
a.
Proof of scholastic standing (certified true copy of grades) and trophies, medals or any form of recognition received from the school;
b.
Proof of enrolment – registration form or proof of graduation – diploma, certificate, or transcript of records with indication of graduation, from the school, college or university;
c.
Birth certificate or proof of relation to the Expat Pinoy
d.
Certification Form from the BPI and BPI Family Savings Branch Head that a family member of the child has an account with BPI, BPI Family Savings Bank and BPI Direct;
e.
Letter of nomination from the school principal, district superintendents, college dean, manager of BPI and BPI Family Savings Bank, parish priest or head of civic or church organization. (Nomination forms are available at www.bpiexpressonline.com and www.bpidirect.com).
 
5.
What are the criteria for judging?
 
The criteria for judging the essay are:
 
a.
Relevance : 30%
b.
Presentation and Style : 30%
c.
Impact : 30%
d.
Grammar : 10%
 
6.
What is the essay that needs to be submitted?
 
The nominee must write an essay (in English or Pilipino) based on the following topic –
 
English:
"WHAT IS MY ROLE IN NATION-BUILDING AS A CHILD OF AN EXPAT PINOY (OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKER)?
 
Pilipino:
ANO ANG PAPEL KO SA PAGPAPAUNLAD NG ATING PAMAYANAN BILANG ANAK NG ISANG EXPAT PINOY?
 
The essay may be written in Pilipino or English; typewritten, double-spaced, and not more than 2,000 words but not less than 1,500.
 
7.
How to join the Search?
 
An applicant must fill up a nomination form available at any BPI and BPI Family Savings Bank branch nationwide or which may be downloaded from www.bpidirect.com or www.bpiexpressonline.com. All application and nomination forms can be obtained free-of-charge.
 
8.
When is the deadline?
 
Deadline for submission of entries is June 30, 2008. All entries must be submitted to the 2008 BPI Search Promo Secretariat, Overseas Customer Segment Office, 18/F BPI Main Bldg., Ayala Avenue corner Paseo de Roxas, Makati City
 
9.
Who will comprise the board of judges?
 
The Board of Judges will be composed of representatives from BPI, BSP, DECS, OWWA, POEA and a professor of sociology.
 
10.
When is the announcement of winners?
 
  Ten (10) Expat Pinoy children will be declared as winners. Winners will be notified by mail. Awarding will be in August 2008 in time for the BPI's celebration of its 157th Anniversary.
